Jam Gadang

Jam Gadang dibangun pada tahun 1926 oleh arsitek A Yazid dan Sutan Gigi Ameh. Peletakan batu pertama jam ini dilakukan putra pertama Rook Maker yang saat itu masih berumur 6 tahun. Jam ini merupakan hadiah dari Ratu Belanda kepada Controleur (Sekretaris Kota). Pada masa penjajahan Belanda, jam ini berbentuk bulat dan di atasnya berdiri patung ayam jantan, sedangkan pada masa pendudukan Jepang, berbentuk klenteng. Pada masa kemerdekaan, bentuknya berubah lagi menjadi ornamen rumah adat Minangkabau.Pembangunanannya diperkirakan memakan biaya 3.000 gulden.
(Jam Gadang is landmark of Bukittinggi and West Sumatra. This West Sumatra' symbol has its own unique history. The structure was built on 1926 and designed by A. Yazid and Sutan Gigi Ameh. An official announcement began with initially stone by six years old first son of Rook Maker, a Dutch colonial leader. The watch is a gift of Dutch Queen to the Controleur (city secretary). Originally a rooster figure was placed on the apex, but it was changed into a Jinja-like ornament during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia. Following Indonesian independence, it was reshaped to its present form resembling traditional Minangkabaun roofs (see Rumah Gadang). It is said to have cost 3,000 Guilder.)

Ukuran diameter jam ini adalah 80 cm, dengan denah dasar 13x4 meter sedangkan tingginya 26 meter. Pembangunan Jam Gadang yang konon menghabiskan total biaya pembangunan 3.000 Gulden ini, akhirnya menjadi landmark atau lambang dari kota Bukittinggi. Ada keunikan dari angka-angka Romawi pada Jam Gadang ini. Bila penulisan huruf Romawi biasanya pada angka enam adalah VI, angka tujuh adalah VII dan angka delapan adalah VIII, Jam Gadang ini menulis angka empat dengan simbol IIII (umumnya IV).
Jam Gadang terletak di pusat kota Bukittingi berdampingan dengan Pasar Atas, yan gmerupakan pusat perbelanjaan bagi para wisatawan.

(The clock's diameter is 80 centimeters, the base's dimension is 13 metres in length and 4 metres wide, and it stands 26 metres tall. One unique feature of the clock is that it uses the IIII for the number 4 instead of its traditional Roman Number IV. Jam Gadang are on the center of Bukittinggi surrounded by Pasar Atas, a tourist shopping center.)
Benteng Fort De Kock



(A remaining fort built by the Dutch on 1825 during the government of Dutch Indies with Baron Hendrik Markus De Kock as Der Troepen Commander and Vice Governor in a hill named Jirek. It

Saat ini lokasi benteng menjadi Taman Kota Bukittinggi dan halamannya menjadi taman burung-burung khas tropis Indonesia. Dari lokasi wisata ini kita dapat menikmati Kota Bukittinggi dan daerah sekitarnya.
(Today, the remaining fort location become Bukittinggi City Park and Tropical Bird Park. Here we can enjoy a wonderful sigthseeing of Bukittinggi.)
Jembatan Limpapeh (Limpapeh Bridge)


(A bridge named Limpapeh is to connect Benteng Fort De Cock & Zoo (Kinantan Park). It is a hang concrete construction bridge laying from two close hills, with traditional Rumah Gadang roof. Located exactli above Jl. A. Yani, a hanging street of around the world tourist in Bukittinggi.)
Taman Marga Satwa


(Initially, Kintantan Park (Zoo) is a flower garden (Strom Park) built by Dutch Indies government as a city development on 1888 in Kurai Limo Jorong that later developed to be a zoo (Fort De Kocksche Dieren Park) as a recreation place of colonial. The Zoo is the second oldest one in Indonesia.)
Janjang 40

(There is a proverb that if you're in Bukittinggi, you should visit "Janjang 40" (a "40" ladder-step). On the top ladder-step you could see the beautiful suburb of Bukittinggi. This place also become a tourist photo spot as they were in Bukittinggi.)
Ngarai Sianok


(Sianok Canyon is a beautiful, green and thriving valley. There lay a river flowing twist and turn inside the hills crack. The beauty of Sianok Canyon frequently becomes painter inspiration and tourist favorite photo object. The canyon split the center of Bukittinggi on + 15 km length and + 100 m deep and 200 m wide by its two walls of hill.)
Gola Gong dalam bukunya the Journey, dalam kata pengantarnya “Hidangan di jagat raya, kunyahlah dengan perasaan ingin tahu. Karena di baliknya terhampar perasaan yang tidak akan kau temui di meja belajar….. (The Journey, Gola Gong, 2008) ketika menatap keindahan Ngarai Sianok di Bukit Tinggi, Sumatera Barat. Bagaimana mungkin ya Allah? Bagaimana mungkin bisa seindah ini?"
(Gola Gong, an Indonesian writer, on his book “Journey”, reflects the canyon as “nature refection, eat it with curious sense. Because behind it there is a feeling that you will not meet in elsewhere… when he stare at the beauty of Sianok Canyon. “How could it be, oh God? How could it be so beautiful?”)

Keistimewaan Ngarai Sianok adalah pada saat matahari terbit dan hampir tenggelam. Kita bisa menikmatinya dari Taman Panorama. Selain itu keindahan Ngarai ini juga dapat dinikmati dengan turun langsung ke dasar jurangnya yang merupakan area pemukiman dan persawahan penduduk.
(The special thing of this canyon is to enjoy the sunrise and the sunset. We can enjoy it from “Taman Panorama”. Beside, the beauty of Sianok Canyon also could be enjoyed by walking to its base where as the population residents and rice fields.)
Lubang Jepang/Japanese Tunnel



(The tunnel tends to look like a bunker, built on 1942 as defense place for Japanese Army on World War II and East Asia War (Dai Tora Senso) in Sumatra and commanded by General Watanabe. The tunnel has 1400 m length and +2 m wide. We can see the historical remnants such as dining room, torturing room, kitchen, and weaponry.)
Rumah Kelahiran Bung Hatta


(Bung Hatta delivery house are one object of culture tourism. Bung Hatta is one Indonesian founding father, Indonesian independence proclamator, a national hero and an influenced man of Indonesia. The house is also a private museum of Bung Hatta.)
